Presentation of the jubilee issue of the journal “Vestnik Europy”

Within the framework of a scholarly seminar of the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue, a presentation of the jubilee issue of the journal “Vestnik Europy” took place.

On March 1, 2017, within the framework of the scholarly seminar " West and East: Universalism of Culture", a presentation of the jubilee issue of the journal "Vestnik Europy" dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of its founder N. M. Karamzin took place.

The meeting was addressed by the authors of the key articles of the issue: Vladimir Kantor, head of the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue, Alexey Kara-Murza, a chief research fellow of the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue, and some invited guests – HSE ordinary professor Mark Urnov, director of Yegor Gaidar Foundation Irina Builova. Viktor Yaroshenko, editor-in-chief of the journal “Vestnik Europy”, was also among the participants.

At the end of the scholarly seminar Vladimir Kantor, Doctor of Philosophy, an ordinary professor of the Higher School of Economics, head of the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue was awarded with Karamzin Medal "Ad Nuncius Europae - Bulletin of Europe".

Karamzin Medal has been awarded since 2005. Its laureates are: translator Solomon Apt, historian-lawyer Andrey Medushevsky, thinker Grigory Pomerants, film-director Anatoly Vasilyev, linguist and culturologist Vyacheslav Vs. Ivanov, poet and translator Grigory Kruzhkov, historian of Russian culture and director of the Library of Congress James Billington, English cultural figure John Roberts, sociologist and publisher Andrei Sorokin, public figure Sasha Slavec (Slovenia), historian and public figure Karol Modzelevsky (Poland).
