Reports of A. A. Kara-Murza and O. A. Zhukova at an International Conference Dedicated to the 225th Anniversary of Pyotr Andreevich Vyazemsky
On June 1 and 3, 2017 at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the museum-estate "Ostafyevo" there was held the International Scientific Conference "Prince Pyotr Andreevich Vyazemsky and historical destinies of Russia (to the 225th birthday anniversary)", organized by the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the fund "Russian liberal heritage".
The conference was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation Mr. Yves Rossiei and Minister of the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland in the Russian Federation Mr. Robert Mead.
On June 1 in the assembly-hall of the Academic Council of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the conference organizer, chief research fellow of the International Laboratory of the Higher School of Economics, chief researcher of the Institute of Philosophy, Alexey Kara-Murza made his keynote speech "Russian European Prince Pyotr Vyazemsky: Ways of Intellectual Development". At the plenary session the main report "Ideals of Enlightenment and National Literature: Aesthetic Program of P.A.Vyazemsky" was also made by the deputy head of the IL, Ph.D., professor of the philosophy school of the Higher School of Economics, academic director of AP "Philosophical Anthropology" Olga Zhukova.
A special visiting session of the conference, with participation of Moscow professors, the director of "Ostafyevo" A.S. Korshikov and scientific staff of the museum, was held in the conference hall of the estate on June 3. The patrimonial nest of Prince P.A. Vyazemsky, where 8 volumes of "History of the Russian State" by Karamzin were written, is rightly called "Russian Parnassus." The estate remembers the great friends of the Vyazemsky family such as V.A. Zhukovsky, A.I. Turgenev, D.V. Davydov, V.L. Pushkin, A.S. Pushkin, A. Mitskevich, N.V. Gogol. The participants of the conference enjoyed an excursion, acquainting visitors with the expositions and funds of the actively developing museum, a cultural pearl of Russia.
