"Overcoming fear" (to the 200th anniversary of Alexander II the Liberator). Interview of Aleksey Kara-Murza to Pavel Gutiontov, a "Novaya Gazeta" journalist

In No. 56 (2777) of Novaya Gazeta on May 30, 2018 a large interview of the chief research fellow of the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue Professor Aleksey Kara-Murza, was published. A. Kara-Murza talked to the columnist Pavel Gutiontov. The Interview was devoted to the 200th anniversary of Alexander II, Tsar the Liberator

The interview talks about the symbolism of the birth of Grand Duke Alexander in the Moscow Kremlin, about the education of the Tsarevich, about the knotty relationships in the Romanovs' imperial family, about the cabinet of reformist liberals who made the Great Reforms of the 1860s together with the tsar, and the so-called "Anichkov Palace Party", the interview also touches upon group of radical anti-Westerners, rallied around Alexander the heir (the future of Alexander III) and did everything so that Russia did not receive the European Constitution in the XIX century.
