Abstract:
Vladimir Kantor, Doctor of Philosophy, Tenured Professor at the National Research University "Higher School of Economics", Head of the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue (NRU HSE), Editor-in-Chief of the journal Philosophical Letters. Russian-European Dialogue, in the new book tries to get away from nationalist pathos in the analysis of the work of the great writer, showing the complexity of his existence in the world, the complexity that made him a great writer. Dostoevsky's perverse dislike for the West hid the passion and adoration of Western European geniuses − Shakespeare, Schiller, Balzac. Under a copy of Raphael's Sistine Madonna he worked for the last years, and died beneath it. These geniuses were his spiritual guides, not to mention the book he constantly read − the Gospel, which came to Russia from Europe. Such a dual composition of his inner world requires a clear articulation − what the author tried to do.
