Language(s) of Wisdom in History and Modernity — Report by Holger Kusse
On December 13, 2021, within the framework of the seminar 'West and East: Universalism of Culture', a report was made by the leading research fellow of the Laboratory, Professor of Dresden University of Technology Holger Kusse
Professor Kusse showed that the common characteristic of wisdom is the connection between affirmation and request (reminder, advice). Within this basic structure, there are different types of wisdom, in particular, wisdom can be the assertion of certain knowledge, ignorance, and the synthesis of knowledge and ignorance. The third type of wisdom is characterized by an emphasis on individual life. This wisdom is a global phenomenon, as evidenced by publications about wisdom of the Russian extreme athlete, traveler and priest Fyodor Konyukhov and the Tyrolean mountaineer Reinhold Messner.
