Roundtable “Kant. Dostoevsky. Russia” at Dostoyevsky Moscow House Museum

On November 21, 2024 the Laboratory staff participated in the roundtable dedicated to Kant and Dostoyevsky

On International Philosophy Day, the Laboratory staff — namely, the head of the Laboratory, professor of the HSE University Vladimir K. Kantor and research assistant of the Laboratory Daniil A. Morozov — presented reports at the roundtable "Kant. Dostoevsky. Russia" in the Dostoyevsky Moscow House Museum. The meeting was also attended by Professor of the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute Ivan A. Esaulov, Honorary President of the International Dostoevsky Society Vladimir N. Zakharov, Dean of the Philosophy Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University Alexey P. Kozyrev and Professor of the Philological Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University Alexander B. Krinitsyn.
The participants of the round table actualized the intellectual connections of the thoughts of Kant and Dostoevsky, and also expanded the issues to the level of Russian-European dialogue. The book by Ykov E. Golosovker "Dostoevsky and Kant", published in 1963, received special attention during the discussion. Differences in evaluation and interpretations caused a lively response and interest not only among the participants of the discussion, but also among the listeners.
After the scientific meeting, art critic Valentina P. Pokladova, head of the Art Department of the Kaliningrad Regional Historical and Art Museum conducted a tour for the sections of the exhibition "Russian Kant: Time and Place", prepared with the cooperaion of the Kaliningrad Regional Historical and Art Museum, the Dahl State Museum of the History of Russian Literature and the Regional Branch of the Russian Cultural Foundation in the Kaliningrad Region. The exhibition presents a new bust of Immanuel Kant, created by Grigory Potocki.
The laboratory staff would like to express their gratitude to Pavel E. Fokin and the staff of the Moscow Dostoevsky House Museum for the excellent organization of the roundtable.
