Anait Mikaelyan's Presentation "The Discussion about the Epos in Weimar classicism and the Poem by J. Goethe 'Reineke the Fox'"

On November 30, 2023, within the framework of the regular seminar "Dialogue between Russia and Europe: the View of Young Researchers" there was a presentation by the research assistant of the Laboratory Anait Mikaelyan

The report presented an analysis of all levels of poetics of Goethe's poem 'Reineke the Fox' (1793) in close connection with the peculiarities of not only the works of ancient poets — Homer, Theocritus, Virgil, Ovid, etc., but also their German translations, which found wide distribution in Germany of that period. The speaker considered the methods that allowed Goethe to achieve an update of the genre characteristics of the poem and gave it relevance within the framework of the cultural and aesthetic program of Weimar classicism. In addition, the report analyzed the Russian translation of the poem of the mid-19th century by M. M. Dostoevsky.
