Irina Lagutina — the Winner of Potanin Foundation Competition

Irina N. Lagutina, Chief Research fellow of the IL for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue, Professor of the School of Philological Sciences of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics", won a grant competition for Master's degree teachers

Among the winners of the competition are 150 teachers from different Russian universities, including 5 employees of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics". The topic of I. N. Lagutina's project is "Redesign of the German Studies course for students of the Master's program ‘East European Studies′".

Professor Irina Lagutina about her development:

The project uses "bifocal optics": German culture is constructed not just as a national system united by the interaction of common cultural myths, but as a part of the European socio-cultural process, as a collision of "foreign" and "original". More specifically, we are talking about the further development of such cases as the "Prussian myth", the "myth of the educated German burghers", the geopolitical meaning of national "places of memory" (Weimar, Berlin, Munich, Nuremberg, Worms), the myth of "Russian Germans", etc.
Congratulations to Professor Irina Lagutina! We wish her fruitful work, engaged students and inspiration for new achievements!
